Postby allsortedplumbing » Thu May 02, 2013 5:44 pm

Hi,

I'm wanting to buy a dual cab xl Ford ranger with the 2.2 Turbo diesel engine. How are these Engines I test drove one and was really happy with it but are they reliable?
Any info would be great
thanks, Simon

haven't heard of any issues with the 2.2 with the exception of water sitting on the top of the rear most injector, but that has been known about for a while so there should be a fix for it.

no, not an issue in australia by the looks of the last post, so nothing that I remember seeing, although if you want an auto you could be in for a wait

what's wrong with the clutch? when I test drove the ranger I found the clutch very hard to get comfortable with very jerky.

I love mine and yes the clutch is tricky to start with but it gets better and gear changes are smooth as now :)

I've done 8000 kms in mine and no problems and just drove from Sydney to Brisbane towing a dirt bike and gear and got 8.7 liters per 100kms :)

Loud metal on metal banging noise when released quickly, they all do it and as such considered normal according to Ford.

MIght be better to wait the 12 months and then ask before you get it delivered otherwise you would have forgotten what we all said ;)

Think it was a very .short. reference to the delays many are experiencing with their purchase of the new XLT.

Engine in mine is great! Kicks the triron's ass.

Cheers,
Rick
