Re: PHEV on the way?

That's fair. Horses for courses, and I have mixed feelings about best of both worlds also meaning the worst of both. I'd prefer BEV but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. Mine sees a lot of use either in or through the city, so I'd like to be a little cleaner about it. Switching to EV mode when p...

Looks like something is brewing for a September 19th reveal, under a #BestOfBothWorlds campaign. Hope they can do a full PHEV rather than some Mild Hybrid BS. Really hope they can offer it on the WIldtrak X. https://twitter.com/FordAustralia/status/1702215606446313915 https://www.carsauce.com/car-ne...

PHEV on the way?

Drive reported a while back that there should be a PHEV Ranger coming in 2024. Anyone heard anything locally?

My old 265/65R18 E RWL sourced locally are Made in USA, with code BE 2A.

My new 285/70R17 C RBL sourced from Summit Racing in the US, are Made in USA with code BE BF.

The "Made in USA" was only on one side of the tyre (e.g. white letter side).

Sure. The dongle is pretty rugged, and I don't have it plugged in all the time. Useful for a quick look or to clear a fault if something is playing up.

I reckon make it voluntary and reasonable. Fair play and peer-pressure usually take care of it, and it doesn't discourage the occasional or new users.

I put an Alpha GSE on. It's OK. I think the Aeroklas looks the best though. No matter what you go with, make sure you get central locking on the canopy door (and do the tailgate as well), lighting, etc.

Re: traction control and rear locking diff

Cheers Stewart. I kinda get why they wanted to allow some wheelspin before ETC or BTC kick in, but it's still a PITA around town. Maybe with the TMS models they'll tighten it up in "normal" mode and allow more spin in sport / mud / etc modes.

Re: traction control and rear locking diff

Hi Stewart

I was thinking of the following:
ASB.BTC
ABS.BTC - BTCS-201D
ABS.DTSC_STATUS
ABS_EBD_MODE - EBD mode
4 x ABS traction control valve
PCM.4x4_SW
PCM.LOCKDIF

Not sure what else is there to indicate what it's doing. Couldn't see anything specific for E-TC unfortunately.

Re: Questions after looking at Ranger Wildtrak

Yep, Bridgestone H/T. I swapped out for BFG KO2, but for comfort maybe try to find a P-rated rather than LT all terrain tyre. Didn't soften too much, but tours nicely with a moderate load. Not sure exactly, but maybe early 2017? It was a while ago anyway... I wouldn't buy one with Sync 2 now. Dunno ...

I have tested my 2017 PX2 ranger in LR with locker on and can confirm the BTC remains active. PX1 and PX2 are different, with PX2 keeping Brake Traction Control System engaged on the front when the rear locker is switched in. Note that Ranger has both Brake and Engine Traction Control Systems. There’s no specific engineering reason for this, it’s just laziness and a problem because you’d wan...
