Re: gvm-gcm upgrade
The reason someone gets a GVM or GCM upgrade or both is to "be legal". So I would strongly suggest before anyone spends their hard earned, check with your state transport authority if they accept upgrades. My understanding is NSW, Tas and WA will not accept a GCM upgrade. Having a little plate fixe...

No you can’t tow anything beyond 3.5t even with an engineering cert, as a 50mm ball is only rated to 3.5t as is the tow bar itself

The tanks aren’t designed to be sealed that’s what the breather is for. Sounds like he overfilled it hence it coming out of the breather

Apart from weight there isn’t any drawbacks so long as it’s solid in construction and the fill neck is setup correct.

Hello all, How effective is the factory bash plate on 2017 Ranger? Bottom of the radiator seems very vulnerable. I'm doing the Simpson this year so is an aftermarket bashplate justified? You spent 128 grand on a ranger + fitout? Wow they saw you coming. Could of had a NPS 300 or Canter for that money, with 37 inch singles, coil conversion and a full camper built cheaper. It’s more due to the crappy paint jobs and powder coating rather then the bar itself.
Anyways alloy is where it’s at anyways, significant weight saving and no loss in strength.

I've had the ARB Frontier fitted, 140 litres and looking at it the clearance hasn't altered - otherwise the ARB underbody protection plates wouldn't fit, certainly the construction cannot be faulted. As for the computer, altering the fuel tank capacity from 80 to 140 isn't too hard. The bash plates...

Install a bigger diameter vent pipe, air needs to be able to escape as fast as it is displaced by incoming fuel, if not the result is blowback as you are describing.
