Re: Can the reverse sensers be turned off

Ok so putting this info in here in case it helps someone else. When I bought my car last year, I included the tow pack as part of the contract. They told me it would be a Hayman Reese towbar, which I was fine with because I know they're good quality. I confirmed then and again when picking the vehic...

I believe that's state dependent. That's definitely the case in QLD as I was just looking up the rules yesterday!

Re: Roof rack Vs trailer

If you're only doing minor offroad distances and not difficult terrain, then a light duty trailer is an option. Trailers like you propose are not dustproof or waterproof (river crossings), though if your dirt road distances are short, that might not be a major problem. If your offroad distances are...

Re: Hey Guys and Gals

I did the same thing, went from a WRX as a daily driver to the Ranger (Sport model as well). The lack of go go took a bit of getting used to (plus going from manual to auto...I still find myself putting a hand on the shifter as if I'm about to change gears!) but now I'm very happy with it as a daily...

I'm not sure if I will keep the rims, might look at changing them in the future. That's good info about the rims, I didn't know that. I can see that I will most likely spent more money on this car than I should. I said I wasn't going to mod mine. It's less than 6 months old, I've swapped out the gr...

Grille swap is easy. At least, taking mine on and off gas been. I've done it three times for various reasons. Installed lower under grille light bar, ran wires etc It's dead simple...once you know where the clips are placed. Did the grille swap today (not under $100 though...bought the Raptor style...

No damage to be done. Park the car in the sun. When the panels are warm simply peel off. This. Maybe a hairdryer too to really get some safe heat into it. If there is any sticker residue, just wipe it down with methylated spirits. I took the crass ‘4x4’ stickers off the rear quarters of our Rangers...

Re: Whats your best mod for under $100

Mind sharing where you picked these up? I bought a Sport so minimal chrome (actually was a deciding factor to not go up to the XLT considering nearly all other features were equal) but I'd be keen on at least blacked out badges, but an FX4 grill would be great too. Was it just an easy swap out? [/q...

Re: Another QLD newbie!

It's nice when you need a vehicle for a particular purpose, and then you find it is useful and fun for many other things as well. I bought mine for towing, not four wheel driving, but of course, it does that as well, and has provided much entertainment in that area. Plus it's my first real 4WD - pr...

Another QLD newbie!

Just realised I never did an intro post! Purchased myself my first 4x4 a couple months ago with an XLS Sport in meteor grey. Primary reason was for towing a horse float, plus all the general usefulness of a ute. Absolutely stoked with it so far, it was a bit of a change coming from a WRX, and the fi...

Re: Ranger delivery wait times

there is plenty of Rangers in the dealers now well in Canberra anyway. Only if you compromise and take what they have in stock. Not much of a compromise for me. There were so many vehicles to choose from in Brisbane yards when I wanted my XLT (middle of this year), and a huge number had everything ...

Re: Can the reverse sensers be turned off

There should be a 'P' button on the console. There is in my '17 XLT. Yes there is (and yes it turns off the reverse as well as front, I regularly use turn them off as I practically reverse into the wall to fit in my garage), however I was under the impression that having a trailer hooked up is supp...

Do a 4x4 course, great place to learn and ask questions without your mates giving you crap haha! You will learn all the basics including how to do a recovery safely. Course is a great idea thanks! Re: Noob offroading questions

Regarding the space for front bar I was in much the same situation, I had about 15cm to play with if I remember correctly. It was also pretty clear from my early off-roading that I had to fit a bar as the approach angle with the factory bumper was by far the biggest limitation. It took me quite a l...

Ah. I knew I missing a question, and that was the catch can! I've seen differing opinions on whether or not this voids warranty? Also if you happen to have a rough ballpark on cost that would be great. It does unfortunately get a bit of short distance trips, unavoidable as a daily driver with where ...

Hi all! I took delivery of an XLS Sport about a month ago, and as it's my first 4x4 I have a few noob questions regarding offroading. I don't plan on doing anything serious, and the vehicle is currently stock. 1. Do I neeeeedd any mods for a bit of light offroading a few times a year? I'm fairly ana...
