Gday

Post by Lordbezzington »

G’day all,

Daniel from NSW, thought I would introduce myself. While not apart of the Ranger family yet I hope to be very soon. Trying to convince the wife is proving a lot more difficult than I hoped :(

I am relatively new to all this so be kind :)

I had this grand plan to purchase a canopy for the tray and install it only when I needed the extra storage and just run the roller shutter day to day. But looking online these canopy’s don’t appear to be an easy off and on thing.

Hoping for some expert advice on if this is even possible and if so how much of a task is installing and removing the canopy/roller shutter.

Thanks all

Welcome!

Heaps of information on here... Try using the search feature to see if your issue or concern has been discussed before, however feel free to post if not!

It's doable to remove and reinstall a canopy, but definitely not a quick process... You'd have to take the sports bar and roller shutter off to get the canopy on. Definitely more than an hours work each time. Then there's storing the canopy... I'd install the canopy and leave it on, but that's just me... Cheers

Welcome Daniel.

I appreciate you being polite and taking the time to introduce yourself. It's unusual to see people's first post being an intro rather than ask a question.

forgiveness is easier to obtain than permission (Joking of course). The Ranger has plenty if room. As for moving the canopy in and off, I don't have one but I looked into this myself and couldn't see any easy way if doing this so gave up.

Cheers

I think that's just the way it is DJ... The majority of people, myself included, only come across the forum when googling an issue. We only learn the etiquette once being a member for some time... In an ideal world eh?

Maybe wall.j but to be honest it's getting to be so rude of people. Imagine walking up to a bloke in the pub and before saying hello just blurted out, hey how do you wire in a dual battery system, or how do you code a key, will these tyres fit my car etc then without saying thanks just turn around and walk away. To make it worse, never to return to let the person know (if they were polite enough to help you in the first place and not tell you to foff) if you were successful or any problems you came across and how you may have overcome it.

People come here for help but then don't post their outcome or resolution so that others can know and learn. Just downright selfish.

Other forums I belong to (saeb's for instance) require you to introduce yourself first before being able to view the posts or post one yourself.

I tend to agree with you about how some find the forum, maybe googling etc but most, not all but most jump in with their first post being their question. No intro, no details about their vehicle etc but also equally frustrating is no searching the forum first on this topic. The very action that made them find their way here in the first place. If people actually googled (researched their topic) and it led them here, to be honest they could find their post and not even need to bother people. I suspect that most don't and it is why their first post is a question. Laziness highlighted right there.

If people just stopped for a minute and thought about how rude they are being I would think they would or should be embarrassed.

Hi Daniel, as others have said their is no easy way to change between canopy and no canopy. I have a flat tray with work canopy and play canopy, still takes me an hour to change them over and they are designed for it!!!

Any reason you don’t want the canopy on all the time?

Hi all and thank you for the feedback.

I didn’t expect to start such a heated convo, but can totally understand how it would ruffle some feathers. Hoping I didn’t cause any offence as it was not my intention.

Jstanovic, it’s purely a looks thing, I don’t particularly like the look of the canopy’s on the back, I love the look of the sports bar and that roller shutter cover. But as it will be a family holiday vehicle too, I can foresee the need for some extra storage hence the plan...a failed plan that maybe haha.

Other option i thought about would be fit some racks and get one of those pod storage things, they may be a lot easier to pull off and on as needed..

Cheers guys

Hey Lord,

Not directed at you at all. I was actually thanking you for your manners. Unfortunately you are in the minority.

Well done.

Yes, I mimic this... It was in no way aimed at you Lord. Just unfortunate this was on your post. Good on you for doing the right thing.
