Another QLD newbie!

Post by ss105 »

Just realised I never did an intro post!

Purchased myself my first 4x4 a couple months ago with an XLS Sport in meteor grey. Primary reason was for towing a horse float, plus all the general usefulness of a ute. Absolutely stoked with it so far, it was a bit of a change coming from a WRX, and the first auto I've ever owned (little part of me still wishes I'd stuck with a manual but ah well).

No real mods at this stage unless you count the tonneau cover (bought it from FitMyCar, $450 and I'm sure would have been very easy to install had I not attempted it at 9pm... ). I won't be doing anything crazy, but depending on how much 4WDing happens I may end up doing a few things. This forum was immensely helpful when I was researching and cross shopping the various utes on the market!

Here it is on it's first beach trip a few weeks ago.

Edit: damn the photo isn't showing up...

It's nice when you need a vehicle for a particular purpose, and then you find it is useful and fun for many other things as well. I bought mine for towing, not four wheel driving, but of course, it does that as well, and has provided much entertainment in that area. Plus it's my first real 4WD - previous were AWD.

Nice beach shot.

It's already lugged 1.5 tonne (yes in multiple loads haha) of topsoil for the lawn, multiple dump runs, hay runs...and whilst 4WDing was never the plan, one trip was enough fun that now I'm keen for more haha. I too am accustomed to AWD, with the exception of a little hatchback for my first car, I've always owned Subarus. Still love 'em, they just don't make what I needed!
