New Wildtrak X, Brisbane

Post by GISpro »

Hi all, Recently took delivery of our first 4wd, a Wildtrak X. Waited 7 months from paying the deposit to driving it out of the dealership. Previous car was a 2017 Mini Cooper Seven, such a difference! Very happy with it so far, will be great for towing the boat I don't have yet, driving on the beach and for road trips.

I got my X in 2020 when they still fitted a snorkel to them. That was one of the big things for me.

The rims on the X certainly aren't the nicest looking but the beauty of them are that they are a wider offset than any other standard Ranger rim (+35mm from memory instead of +55mm for all other Ranger rims). I knew I wanted to change the rims from stock regardless, and given that legally you can only increase 25mm per side from standard without engineering, having the wider offset rims from standard allows wider offset rims to be fitted legally to the X than to any other Ranger, incl Wildtrak or Raptor.

The rims that come with the X are a standard aftermarket rim (CSA Raptor Large Cap Satin Black Milled Alloy) with a Ford centre cap. That makes them easier to sell after you've swapped them out.

I'm not sure if I will keep the rims, might look at changing them in the future. That's good info about the rims, I didn't know that. I can see that I will most likely spent more money on this car than I should.

I said I wasn't going to mod mine. It's less than 6 months old, I've swapped out the grille, got rid of the decals, added roof racks and an awning, clip on tonneau cover and am in the process of looking at bullbars and snorkels
