To be honest mate i did it just because i have the rest of the piping kit/intercooler upgarde . I didn't think there would be any gains as such to be had but on the drive home from work yesterday (I fitted it in the work car park at lunch) i was so impressed with how much the low down throttle response has improved i had to dial back the idrive.
The stock one has flex joints in it which aren't going to help with air flow having these flex joints also allows the pipe to expand and contract with heat and vacuum (eg the pipe can suck in under acceleration). The aftermarket is smooth nice round corners for better flow also made from a thick silicon which is less likely to distort.Rosspat wrote:Have to wonder why it performs better than stock, it's just a pipe
Adding this one pipe by itself is probably not going to net much gains at all but if you have the rest of the piping kit and the intercooler upgrade then it is well worth it EDIT: IMO.
Hello. I just installed the forefront intercooler and pipe kit and have noticed my engine coolant temperature has risen. Use to be 83-85 at idle now 87-89. Gets to 95 now just giving it a bit. Seems to be a little high? Is it because of restricted airflow from bigger intercooler. Just seeing if this is normal and if you had similar results?
