Flares (merged)

Post by wayz64 »

Has anyone had flares fitted to their range yet. With the tax man giving me some cash back I will be getting my lift done as well as rims and tyres. With the limited options out there for mags I was looking at a set of flare. I like the look of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Massive-6-Wh ... 27d3be417f

Wouldn't mind hearing from someone who has them fitted as to what offset rims they are running now!

Think you would have to run a silly offset like neg 30 to fill them which will cause other issues.

I run +18 and they stick out about 20mm

Ranger Guard Flares (Merged)

I see that there are some Ranger guard Flares on Ebay for $1099 painted in any colour. I was wondering in getting a set? Has any one on this Forum purchased any and what is their quality & workmanship like? Cheers... :) ..

They look the goods.
Look a bit gay with the standard mags and tyres though.
I think they would look good with some POS 30 mags with 17 x 12.5 inch muddies.

looks decent, but not cheap.

Some similar looking ones out of thailand for half that but bit more risk.

My offset is a 0 and they hang about 50mm out but look real aggressive. (My white ranger. In show n shine pics) problem is cops also see them hanging out I just got my yellow off. I'm going to run garden gutter till they make a descent flare. Check out delta 4x4, they have good flares but are around 2" so is have to change offset so atleast the are wall stick out

I have just ordered a set of the EGR flares in Cool White.
I am planing on running some aggressive mud terrains 33 x 12.5 x 17
After doing some measurements I will have to get new mags

Hi Timothy, it will good to see what you end up with in regards to how far they sit of the car and if the standard mud flaps can be reattached to them. I sent an email to both egrauto and the bloke who was selling them on eBay (adelaideuteaccessoties) and neither could give me an answer to each of those questions. So I ended up taking the punt and buying the $650 ones from a Thailand seller (itsacabbagenaomi) as I have a feeling that all these other two are doing is just selling them on for a decent mark-up, I should have mine in 2 weeks so I'll let you know what they are actually like for fit and build quality.
Also if you have a look at the pics for the Thai flares on eBay, you will see one that looks just like the car on the other Australian eBay sellers add.

Either way I hope when yours turn up they are a perfect fit and look forward to the photos.

Cheers,
Matt

When I get them fitted I will let you know how it goes. You can drop past my work or I can pop into yours when I get them on.
 I think Brett is too worried about how he will look standing on a ladder loading building materials into his rig. I agree he needs to man up and get with the program

Ok my EGR Ranger Flares arrived today. Perfect colour match. Really nice fit. Easy to install. They extend the guard about 40mm. Will be fitting some zero offset mags tomorrow. I think they will fit nice.

Transforms the look of the car. Looks way better. Just need to fill the guards. Also the stock mags on there at the moment have 25mm wheels spacers on them. So they are technically a POS30 mag at the moment.

Please no comments on wheels spacers or zero offset mags being illegal.

Damn - now I'm gonna have to spend more money and upset the wife again.
That looks excellent.

What's the go with mudflaps? Will you be able to fit the OEM ones or will aftermarket be required?

EGR are making some nice gear for the PX's. I'm very happy with my nudge bar.

Stock mudflaps will fit i think after first expection. They will need to be screwd into the flare though so I'm not sure on strength. When I get more time tomorrow I'm going to have a better look.

Got my Zero Offset mags put on yesterday. As per my calculation they don't stick out at all and are in line with the lip.

I was thinking the same thing.
Cant decide between 315/70/17 or 33/12.5/17 or leave what I have.

Im on the hunt for a worn set of 315's so I can do a test fit.

Haha me too. Lift just went in and I already have flares. The lift came up 4" (had sagged a bit) but there is room for 35s I think...

Haha been thinking the same thing on mine, 33s and a lift look small.

Keen to get a set of these flares but need to workout mud flaps first (mainly rear).

Your ute is looking awesome tim! Very impressed.
Nice to see some different mods happening around the place and people willing to try some more offset wheels.
What sort of lift do you have at the moment?

I have dobinson rear springs with snake extended shackles.
And dobinson front with milled down strut spacers.
Gives me about 4 inches in the rear and about 3 in the front.

I was super impressed with the quality of flares. The fitment was spot on. They are no drill the reuse the existing holes. They can be taken off with no damage to the vehicle. Took less than 1 hour to fit.

That is a setup I have considered aswell tim. Nice to see how it looks on your rig.
It doesnt look like a silly lift...really suits it especially with flares and such a wide track.
If only they came from factory like that :)
