Judging by appearances, do you think the transmission's Mcfucked/On it's way to Mcfucktown ?Rosspat wrote:The previous owner believed Ford when they said sealed for life.

Get it flushed (not just dropping the pan oil and refilling), that's all it may need. I serviced my tranny at 148,000km, trans guy said it looks like it hadn't been done. Looked like yours without the cruddy bits. Just had it flushed again last week at 197,000km and he said it looked nice and clean still.

I service mine every 50,000km due to the fact that I'm dragging around a 3t caravan most of the time.

By taking it to a transmission joint. They will be able to do it fully. Will take about 20L of fluid to do a full complete flush.DIYRangerGuy wrote:How do I flush the line ?jstanovic wrote:Get it flushed (not just dropping the pan oil and refilling), that's all it may need. I just need to know where the return transmission Line is ?
Re: Transmission Magnet's/Oil Look's Terrible, Thought's ?
Return from what? The transmission cooler is water cooled and mounted to the side of the transmission, nothing to disconnect/connect to. Stick your head under the passenger side and you will see it. Be aware these transmissions need to be at a certain temp to replace fluid and check levels. Maybe get yourself a Haynes manual, the info is on here somewhere but just need to search for it and sift through the info.
If you're in Perth I can recommend Westcoast Automatics in Morley, they won't rip you off.

There should be return lines that run into the intercooler at the front just behind the grille right ?

The transmission needs to be Up to temp, you'll never get all the fluid out of the torque converter otherwise. You might think you can DIY but in reality you'll only do a 60% job
But hey you're the one who came here for advice and doesn't want to listen to if, so good luck with that.

The cooler isn't at the front, as previously pointed out, it's not in the bottom of the radiator, it's a separate module bolted to the side. You can't do a drain and suck like a normal auto as the box has a thermostat built in and it won't let the oil in unless it's preheated. There should be return lines that run into the intercooler at the front just behind the grille right ?
A bit of metallic "mud" on the magnets is normal after that mileage. Coarse shavings are not. If you don't want to get it flushed then you are going to have to do a couple of dump and drain cycles.
Re: Transmission Magnet's/Oil Look's Terrible, Thought's ?
No, as mentioned cooler heat exchanger is mounted on passenger side transmission. probably cheaper to get a tranny place to do flush for you.DIYRangerGuy wrote:jstanovic wrote:Return from what? Would the intercooler (Attached passenger side of trans) have return lines ?
How would a transmission shop flush it ? any ideas?
I've seen a bloke attach a make shift filter, see video link below, to suck trans oil in, thoughts? (See 3:18s)

They use a machine like this to do the full flush and clean. A lot more complex than a backyard job.
