Just a heads up on the new dual cab V6 Wildtrack with TUB and used for business. It's carrying capacity is 997kg which is 3kg's short of the ATO's 1tonne.
Painter I know was nearly caught out and it was his accountant that bought his attention to it. He now has to pay out the extra $'s for a gvm upgrade before registration or use a logbook and be limited on his depreciation claims with the ato.
V6 Wildtrack carrying capacity warning
Re: V6 Wildtrack carrying capacity warning
Hi Grant, thanks for the info but if you refer to to the last pdf brochure released from Ford for the T6.1 Ranger released for the last MY-21.75 platform and refer to the most common double cab XLT pick-up and Wildtrak variants the published payloads are 1003 kgs for the XLT in 2.0 litre engine & 970 kgs for the (auto) in 3.2 litre variant (now dropped on the new T6.2 release) with the Wildtrak down to 954 kgs in 2.0 litre or 922 kgs in the 3.2 litre auto variant. It is only the cab chassis or lower spec pick-up model Rangers that will really meet the true 1.0 Tonne plus ATO load carrying capacity.
My question is how closely is the ATO really monitoring the situation?
Did raise that question previously with my accountant and he didn't even know what a Ranger was - would the ATO know one Ranger from another - just wondering if they can really pick things up that closely or is it just a big truck to them that looks like a trade vehicle?
Let me know your comments!

Re: V6 Wildtrack carrying capacity warning
According to this fella his lady accountant was very aware it and because another one of her customers had been pinned by the ato regarding the ute. They may have been investigating him at the time and came across it.
I was investigated by the ATO who found absolutely nothing wrong with my tax claims but hell were they thorough.
I just had a look At the 2023 specs and here is what was printed for the wildtrak.

Re: V6 Wildtrack carrying capacity warning
What a bummer
If you love and pride what you got you will not push it till the edge isn’t
But adding another bag of cement etc will not hurt just one time.
Mybe next time ATO will measure how many mm you weeeee in a day

I would say the ATO will know when it comes to saving $$$, I got screwed over years ago when I purchased my FG ute from road tolls where I was always charged commercial vehicle rate.Wildtrakx wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 11:28 pm Hi Grant, thanks for the info but if you refer to to the last pdf brochure released from Ford for the T6.1 Ranger released for the last MY-21.75 platform and refer to the most common double cab XLT pick-up and Wildtrak variants the published payloads are 1003 kgs for the XLT in 2.0 litre engine & 970 kgs for the (auto) in 3.2 litre variant (now dropped on the new T6.2 release) with the Wildtrak down to 954 kgs in 2.0 litre or 922 kgs in the 3.2 litre auto variant. I would take a cautious approach as Grant L1 mentioned.
