Auto start stop / disabling it

Post by Jordansolly »

Just wondering if anyone's done the old bridging trick on the mk2 rangers start stop button like what they do on the f-trucks and what wires they bridged

What's your thoughts?

manual px2 has auto stop start. a fuel saving function. when u stop and take your foot off the clutch the engine switches off. press the clutch and the engine starts again. the function can be disabled by using the auto stop start button. cheers

In merica they have it on their autos as well! Ford nz are unable to disable, i ran out of steam to do Saebs mod as I dont have the right gear atm. I am aware of the bridging thing which would involve removing the console to get at the switch...or you can buy the redtech module which prob still involves removing the console?

Hi all i know this is an old thread but i finally found a way of deactivating the auto stop start without any scan tools or modules and it takes about 10 seconds to do. Simply open the bonnet and on the negative side of the battery terminal there is a plug. Simply disconnect this plug and problem solved.

I wonder what else doesn't work anymore? That module is involved in the smart charging system and lots of things can no longer sense what is going on with the battery and associated systems.

This is my question too. If this sensor is disconnected, does the battery just revert to a normal blind charging system? There must be other systems that rely on battery info to function properly.Duration of heated windscreen and seats etc? Does the DPF regen on,y start when battery health is above a certain level?
Anyone care to throw some informed light on it, as opposed to my useless Brit guesswork!

I can confirm that the DPF will not do any regen with this sensor disconnected.

Its been over 2 months and my car still doesnt have any ill effects. Although i have noticed my battery is alot stronger now as it seemed to struggle abit to kick over which probably confirms it switches back to blind charging with the sensor disconnected

Disconnecting that plug can create major issues
To give you an idea this is all the error codes it throws unplugged
Clear them & they just come straight back.

A possible option for those that want another choice...the USA cars don't always allow STOP-START if there is a load on the AC (240V) inverter. They just stick a night light (any low load device) permanently into the 240V outlet to effectively disable the function. No idea if it'll work on Thai built Rangers, but might be worth a try. (the inverter turns off after 30sec(?) when the engine is manually stopped)

Works perfectly until it doesnt. Disconnecting essential loom parts is a nonsense. But it is your vehicle. Just set the timer for all goes wrong mode.

Certainly my Thai-built PX3 disables start-stop if the 240V is in use, my son usually has his game charger plugged in.

Maybe you should ask this question at Stewart's website as he would most likely know. ;)

Just a quick comment, I tried leaving a charger plugged in to the inverter and it still auto offed very occaisionally. I have since had a remap and disable of auto s/s.
