Don't tell the missus but they're brighter than her

Just went for a drive ( it's dark over here as we speak Rocket ) - certainly different light than the old Halogens - love em - just need a bit of adjustment and they're ready for my next interstate overnight drive !

Thanks mate - must say I'm very happy with it still - certainly does pretty much everything I want it too.

Just need to swap that old accessory in the passenger seat for a later model thinner one and mods will be complete

Re: lights - very well made units with good mounts - can't wait til dark to test them out.

Haven't seen too many pics of your truck or am I not looking in the right places ?

All the best and thanks for your advice - especially with my trailer lights - they're still blinkin' away happily

Cheers

Gazz
Here is two pics of my rig, only a few add on accessories, spotties on nudge bar were removed for a light bar but I will post up some more updated pics at a later time on my own page.

Personalised plates yes, Trublu No, the rear led light works a treat, I have two others (different type) mounted each side of tow bar for reverse which is perfect, I will post pics later on.
Coming up to the 55K milelage, just a few service recalls known to these models, only had gear change trouble with auto when towing which was rectified with new lead harness loom, I'm quite happy with ranger.

G'day All

Went for a drive last night to have a play with my new led spotties - must say I'm impressed !
The lights came supplied with 2 spot beam covers and 2 flood beam covers - first drive was with one of each fitted and was good light to drive with at 100 kph. Stopped and put the 2 clear spot covers on and found that to be a fair bit better as it penetrated the distance more with only minimal loss of side of the road visibility - great for the open road at say 110 kph or over. Then put the 2 flood beam covers on and lost the distance ( but still ten times better than factory high beam ) but side of the road visibilty was almost like daytime.

So I have decided to leave the 2 spot beam covers on for driving on the bitumen but when I will be driving on outback / dirt roads or doing bush work I will put the flood beam covers on - they are not big and can be kept in the car at all times.

Totally different light compared to my old halogens - suits my ageing eyes nicely. Whilst my driving last night was only short distances I have no doubt that on the longer night drives I do these lights will make the journey far less tiring !

Which ones did you fit.
With the tailgate does it help with opening and closing.

Mate - I'm a fairly big strong bloke and as a tradie working out of my ute all day opening and closing that tailgate becomes a pain in the backside ( politically correct ;) )

With the new tailgate struts I reckon a 5 year old girl could open and close the tailgate with one hand while holding an icecream in the other !!

Struts make it both easier to lower and easier to close !

Got them off ebay ( STRUT-ACTUATOR-SHOP ) and very easy to install

Yep - 2 identical struts - both work on the up and both work on the down !!

I tried opening and closing the tailgate after only fitting one strut and was almost not going to fit the other - but glad I did !!

Light look the stuff mate . My only concern is if the 185 watt ones will fit on the bar . I have contacted the company for sizes of the light with mounting bracket as its not that clear if measurements given are with mounting bracket .

So tell how good are they !!!!!

Oh what size are ya rims and tyres I'm looking at them for my rig as well ?

Wadey

I have the TJM bar and I reckon the 9 inch 185 watters will fit easy - what bar do you have ?

Going ten inch with the TJM bar I think you would have to drill some new holes.

There's a pic in the electrical section here titled LED light bars - how to choose ? pic is in a street with a truck in the shot

Look for the post by Glasgow ranger and he has 8 inch led's but doesn't say how many watts or lumens for that matter - they look very similar to mine and the light output looks the same

I did try and take some photos with high beam only then with spotties down a country road where I live but I couldn't work out how to turn off the flash which stuffed the pics up
- I should have asked Rocket0407

Leds will lose a bit of distance compared to Halogen or Hid but it's a brighter light in my opinion and much easier on the eyes ( well my aging ones anyway )

17 x 9 CSA Raptor rims with large cap - fitted with 285 70 17 duellers

Cheers Gazz, the mods will most likely be finished just before they are ready to trade in hey. I have a nuvi 465T from my truck driving days that is looking for a new spot. By the way, what sort of glasses fit in that holder?

None of the ones I own - not even the five dollar +2 readers I have to use these days

Mate - I'm in the same boat - been doing this stuff for years and each time you get your fourby set up how you want it's time to get a new one

Had cab chassis's most of my life but somehow ended up with a tub with my last vehicle, not sure why but got another one as it seems more car like according to the missus !

Put these little beauties on a few months ago - great light for a great price !

They light up the campsite beautifully without being too hard on the eyes - great coverage and distance.

Wouldn't use them in a caravan park / campground but out in the sticks they're perfect !

You gunna put a 12 volt fan in the back for your two rear passengers to help evaporate the slobber and keep em cool  ?

What sort of music do your dogs like listening to ?

Barkhoven ??

'Stones - Walkin the dog ?

Black Dog by Led Zepplin ?

"Move it on over" by Hank Williams

Diamond Dog - David Bowie" ?

Mad Dogs and Englishmen ?

Everly Brothers - Bird Dog ?

Hey Rocket - you might need to invest in one of those new Ipawd's for the trip over

Quite appropriate would be Seamus from Pink Floyd's 'Meddle', backed up with Dogs from their Animals album. Both excellent travelling albums, which I'm sure you'd already have on your '8 track'....

Bloody dogs, I had a bluey that destroyed the interior of my HG sedan, so taught him to ride in the boot. When he would ride the passenger seat, he would fart and stick his head out the window and look back at you... I also had a kelpie who would be glued to the road looking for rabbits, and ears pricked with his nose on the vent sniffing, then he would sneeze all over the dash. It was after my first ute body car (72 Valiant ute 265 hemi 4 speed) and had the paint on the sides trashed by the bluey I turned to cab chassis with steel trays. Dont forget the Angels "The dogs are talking"

Gazz, what was involved with swopping fords standard battery to the SSB75 1030 cca?
was it a simple pull the old one out, chuck the new one in or was it a cut and shut job?

G'day ajq30

Howz it going - haven't heard from you for ages !

Auto transmission - is a straight pull out the old and in with the new

Manual transmission - I believe is a bit of cutting and folding the battery tray
