Re: Cool white XLS build up

The auto xls in my fleet is showing these warning lights on the dash. Can anyone assist please? Car has been back to ford twice and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. Theyve asked we bring it back when the dash lights are in. Problem is they come on and off regularly and never when its at the dealer. Cheers

Not happy jan! 9000km only

Unrepairable! F*CK!!!!
Re: Cool white XLS build up
You can get them fixed with a major repair. They vulcanize rubber. Just most tyre shops dont.

Re: Cool white XLS build up
Trust me it can be done. I work in the tyre industry. I know here in SA theres only one mob that does it and its not a tyre retail store as such that does them.

Yeah, I agree. I had one almost new Mickey Thompson tyre with three punctures, two in the sidewall. My mate who used to run a Tyrepower shop sent it away and had it repaired. Was pretty cheap at the time as well.

Yeah plus that puncture looks like its in the shoulder. I think it cost 60ish dollars.

Mate, I know I probably shouldn't suggest this, but if you really can't find anywhere to have it fixed, just put a plug in it and run it on the back. I will confess to having done that and then forgetting about it... for about 40,000km

Re: Cool white XLS build up
thanks guys for the input. very much appreciated. fortunately i know a chick who knows a bloke who owns a bloke at michelin (bfg tyre owners here in vic). she gave me an order number, and i went direct to the michelin warehouse. i tell ya what ive never seen so many tyres in one bloody place. its the distribution warehouse for michelin ie bfg. wholey shiza! deadset i thought id died and gone to bfg heaven. anyway she also hooked me up with a fitter and got it sorted with a brand newie this arvo. fortunately its done bc im hitting the road extremely shortly for the ranger meetup weekend (horseshoe bend may 5-7 2017) recon trip. gunner run the proposed 4x4 route and catch up with butch. bloody wrong time to puncture a $550 bfg km2 (that was the replacement quote)!! chéers and 3 can long weekend friday ya'll!!

Re: Cool white XLS build up
I am with Gerry, on the rear or as a spare, run it out. Have had a few tyres over the years with punctures like that and just was mindful of them, didn't run them on the front at all, and had no issues with them.

Re: Cool white XLS build up
i actually asked firmly for it to be plugged and used as a spare. both shops said recent change in law forbids it. ie no way. had several shoulder punctures over the years on past utes gottem plugged and drove them on the rear. no bloody luck today unfortunately. just p1ssed off bc at 9000km it was a brand new tyre with zero other damage. oh well.

Re: Cool white XLS build up
Mate, just buy a cheap plug kit and do it yourself... come ova here and I'll do it for ya.
A kit is a must have anyway if you go bush at all.

Re: Cool white XLS build up
Fitted the tailgate central locking conversion kit to my xls today. Confidently saying im an expert at this now... lol. Anyone wanting this mod and attending the annual ranger meetup may 5-7 at horseshoe bend im more than happy to help. A gold coin towards the rfds is a great payment method
Interestingly the actuator i fitted today was from jaycar made in China about $15, considerably quieter in operation than the $4 ebay item i fitted to my xlt. Also made in china. Anyway as long as it works! Cheers

First service (15000) done today $400+ got charged to have the door chime disabled $57. New air filter & $194 worth of oil and they refused to wash it. Lol. Said it was too muddy. At least now i can hear the turbo breath again.
no luck getting the ambient temp display activated. cheers

Re: Cool white XLS build up

Finger crossed this is covered by warranty otherwise its a bloody expensive repair!

Re: Cool white XLS build up
I'd get rid of the flora and fauna before you roll into the dealership Linc, they'll try and say it was due to something spiking it- like a blade of grass... lol
Just a split boot I assume and not a CV?
Btw, that sway bar has to go

20000km and busted front drive shaft. As per another thread... shoulda bought a hilux

Re: Cool white XLS build up
Yep about 20000km the clutch would've gone on the Hilux.
Know what I would rather be replacing, and it doesn't require lying on your back under a car

Re: Cool white XLS build up
Well done on getting it through as warranty Linc.
Was gonna suggest checking with wreckers for CV's as genuine are best but are up there with the price of indicator fluid.

Re: Cool white XLS build up
The auto up and down reset procedure is all in the handbook because not everybody likes the auto up and down so they can change it, easy peasy!lincolnland wrote:had the 230v module replaced today under warranty so all fixed however, after picking it up and driving away the drivers side window now doesn't do auto up and auto down. pain in the ar5e. back to the dealer again tomoz to get it looked at. annoying coz their were no window issues when I dropped it off this morning.lincolnland wrote:Had the 3000km service done this week. No issues. Enabled dual battery mode. The next day wanted to use the 230v socket. Plugged in some gear from work to charge. Indicator light was flashing. Checked the manual says its got a fault code. Went back to dealer who told me common fault with my17 models , charging 230v module needs replacing and has been ordered. Bit disappointing... but still love the xls.
My tip- if you havent tested your sockets, givem a test preferably at the dealer! Cheers y'all
