MIXRIG - 2012 PX Ranger
Re: MIXRIG - 2012 PX Ranger
Current gauge setup. I'm not 100% on the Thermo Fan controller being there forever, but it'll do for now.

Re: MIXRIG - 2012 PX Ranger
Fans positioned like this give the max coverage possible with twin fans. They can all be switched off for river crossings from the cab - which is handy!
They run in 'pull' mode and are sequenced so Fan 1 comes on at around 80 deg (thermostat opens).
Fan 2 comes on at 90 deg which also turns the AT cooler fan on simultaneously.
Fan 2 and the AT cooler fans also come on automatically. when the A/C is switched on, even if Fan 1 hasn't been engaged temperature wise.

Re: MIXRIG - 2012 PX Ranger
So the belt driven fan has been given the chop, which leaves the fan pulley to spin pretty much as an idler pulley now.
I may have gained a handful and a half of killawasps as a result of no fan load perhaps...
I had the factory 23mm wide bearing in it pressed out and with some very exact measurements of OD and ID, sourced a 13mm wide bearing and back-spaced it with 2x SS washers to take up the other 10mm.
Spins free and true, was about $100 including parts to do that at the workshop I engaged for the job in Bayswater.
Happy to pass his details on for anyone wanting a good, honest 4x4 mechanic that's also very resourcful when it comes to 'left of centre' solutions.

Not sure where the other half of the ball-bearings went (spacedust in a galaxy far, far, far-q)
) - but this is what you call one cooked bearing...!

Re: MIXRIG - 2012 PX Ranger
Took the ute up to Big River last weekend for the Queen's Birthday long w/e.
Went very well and had a great time with my young bloke.
Couldn't resist parking at the local mall, avoided all the shopping trollies n' stuff...

Coupla more photos from last weekend with my mate, half way up the track to Mt. Terrible, while we scouted around for decent firewood.
Great view from up there mid afternoon'ish!
