I've just brought home a Ranger PX I, 3.2 auto, 4x4 cab chassis. I'm gonna need help and advice to set it up for a bit of weekend fun and some touring. You seem to have a great forum here, so I thought I should get amongst it. Let's see where this takes me! Cheers.

I'm in Caboolture, just down the road from the Glasshouse Mountains. Lot's of off road opportunities around here. I'm planning on joining a local FWD club to learn the ins and outs of four wheeling, I have very little prior experience. The long term plan is a bit of touring and maybe an expedition or two. Long way to go before that happens!

First order of business - I've just put a deposit on a full set of wheels and tires.

I hit a full grown beef cow at 100kph. Still waiting to hear from insurer.

OMG I hope you are ok, think you might be getting another ranger by the looks of the damage received.

Ute can be fixed or replaced. Human life on the other hand. Looks like a very solid impact but the vehicle appears to have protected you well. Hitting a full grown cow at 100kph wiukd have been like hitting a brick wall.

I was unhurt. I'm actually glad I was in the Ranger and not my other car, a small Asian hatchback. I might have had steak for dinner! I'm still waiting to hear back from my insurer. The damage is a little more extensive than you can see in the photo, the engine took a hit, and I couldn't open the doors. We'll see soon enough.

Just an update. My Ranger is a write-off. I've been offered $40 less than I payed for it, but I get to keep the new wheels and tyres.
